STEP – Centre for Innovation Research

The mission of STEP is to be a national resource centre for studies of the relationships between development of knowledge, technological change, and economic growth and development. STEP’s core activities are research on and analysis of innovation activities and abilities in private and public sectors, both nationally and internationally.

STEP report The final report in the STEP report series is now published!
However, the report series will be merged with the NIFU report series and available on our new site (coming fall 2004)

Rapporten er utarbeidet på oppdrag fra Utdannings- og forskningsdepartementet og gjør rede for de næringsrettede instituttenes plass i innovasjonssystemet -- herunder blant annet de teknisk-naturvitenskapelige instituttene, miljøinstituttene og primærnæringsinstituttene. Basert på intervjuer, analyse av politiske dokumenter og trender samt et omfattende tallmateriale, kommer forskerne med anbefalinger om den fremtidige rollen til disse instituttene.
This report discusses the present and future role of industry-oriented research institutes in the Norwegian innovation system. An English summary is included.

Sammenslåing av forskningsinstituttene Norsk institutt for studier av forskning og utdanning (NIFU) og STEP Senter for innovasjonsforskning
Den 1. mai 2004 forenes forskningsinstituttene NIFU og STEP. Den nye institusjonen vil bli landets ledende forskningsinstitutt for studier av kunnskap, utdanning, forskning og innovasjon, med rundt 80 medarbeidere.
