Abstract Submission Guidelines

General Policies and Requirements for the submission of Abstracts

  • Authors can submit an abstract for a paper that has been submitted to a journal, but is not yet accepted at the time of abstract submission deadline
  • Only original abstracts will be accepted. Results from a manuscript that has been submitted for publication and is currently under review are acceptable, however
  • Submitters whose abstracts have been accepted will be expected to attend the meeting and present their papers. A registration confirmation (through the workshop website) and payment from at least one of the authors must be received no later than 1 week after the Paper Selection Committee has selected the paper and the author has been notified
  • All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the International Paper Selection Committee who reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the Workshop Program
  • Abstracts will be grouped by section topic. When submitting, please indicate in which of the two sections the paper is intended for
  • There will be two types of papers

    - Full length papers, maximum 15 pages

    - Short papers, maximum 5 pages

    Short papers are reserved for research which is in progress, with ideas and/or preliminary results which will be concluded at a later stage. Abstracts MUST indicate - below the title - which sort of paper (short or full lenght paper) that the author(s) intend to submit to the workshop

Abstract Content

  • The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience
  • The interdisciplinary nature of the Conference participants should be kept in mind, when writing the abstract
  • The abstract should be in 'Mini Paper Format' that includes briefly the objectives of the research, methodology employed, results and main conclusions
  • It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure accuracy of content, spelling and presentation

Size of the Abstract

The abstract must be submitted as a Word document, with main text in 11-point Arial. The abstract cannot be longer than 1 page, written in the English language.

The requested letter font is: Arial

The title

12-point Bold Centered All Caps

The text

11-point single spaced left justified

Figures, Tables & Drawings

Figures, tables, drawings must be computer generated.

Abstract Layout

Line 1: Title, and in parenthesis following the title, whether it is a short or full length paper (see the website)

Line 2: Name(s) of the author(s) in normal italics, 12pt, with left justification Omit degree(s) and title(s) For multiple authors with multiple affiliations, use superscript numbers to correlate authors with affiliation and address

Line 3: Affiliation(s) in normal 12 pt with left justification May require more than one line

Line 4: Address(es) in normal 12 pt with left justification May require more than one line

Line 5: Leave blank

Line 6: Begin text and diagrams

Abstract File Format

Must be submitted as a Word file

Modes of Submission

Abstracts shall be submitted via e-mail to: fjelraa@online.no. The Conference Administrator (fjelraa@online.no) will not be responsible for abstract submissions not received via this mode of submission. Abstracts on diskettes/CD-Rom will not be accepted.

Confirmation of Abstract Receipt

Confirmation of receipt of the submission will be sent by email to the person who mailed the abstract.

Contact the Conference Administrator and Chairman Dr. Magne Fjeld (fjelraa@online.no) if you do not receive an e-mail within 48 hours (two days) of submitting your abstract. Lack of email confirmation indicates that your abstract was not received.

 

Abstract acceptance notification

Abstract acceptance notification will be sent to the presenting author (or the first author on the author list) by the 25th of September 2006, together with instructions for full paper submission. The instructions for full paper submission will be also posted on the workshop website.

Note: Compliance to the specifications is important - any abstract that does not comply with these specifications may not be accepted for review.
